Two recoveries can look identical on paper and cost very different amounts. These are the five things that genuinely move the price, in the UK, from any provider.

Not every provider prices the job the same way. Here is roughly what you are looking at with an independent firm, an AA/RAC callout, and TowManVan's fixed pricing.

Hidden costs to watch for with other providers
Most people who get overcharged for recovery are not lied to outright, they just were not told the whole price. These are the three things worth asking about before anyone hooks up your car.
None of these apply with TowManVan: the price you confirm in the app, including any skates, congestion or night charge, is the price you pay.
How TowManVan's fixed pricing works
The base recovery price depends on your vehicle: £70 for a car under 1300kg, £75 for 1300-1600kg, £85 over 1600kg, and £120 for a van or minibus. That covers a DBS-checked driver, the truck, and the first 3 miles of the tow. Beyond that, the mileage rate increases with distance, and you see the running total in the app before you confirm, not after.
If your car will not roll onto the truck normally, whether that is a seized wheel, a gearbox that will not go into neutral, or a handbrake that will not release, a flat £65 skates fee applies, covering however many skates the driver needs. Recovering from a congestion zone adds £25, and any job between 23:00 and 07:00 is charged at 1.5x the standard fare. There is no separate weekend surcharge on car recovery, that only applies to man-and-van and removals bookings.
Every driver is DBS-checked and carries motor trade, hire-and-reward, and public liability insurance, so your car is covered from the moment it is hooked up. In covered cities, average arrival is 20 to 40 minutes, though that will vary with traffic and how many drivers are nearby at the time. There is no membership to buy, no joining fee, and nothing to pay until you actually need a tow.
