Finsbury Park, Manor House, Stroud Green, Woodberry Down and the Harringay edge make up N4, served from £49 on a pay-when-you-need-it basis. Seven Sisters Road and Green Lanes take the bulk of the traffic, the reservoirs and the New River break the street grid, and the terraces off Stroud Green Road are as densely parked as anywhere in the borough. Twenty-two minutes is what operators aim for, with the number settled in the app beforehand.
N4 recovery costs from £49 and is bought one job at a time, so there is no policy to renew and no cover level to argue about. Operators work the Finsbury Park to Manor House stretch and the Stroud Green terraces, meaning the assigned van normally starts inside the district. The squeeze comes around the Finsbury Park bus interchange in the evening, on Green Lanes at weekends, and near the reservoirs where adjoining street dead-end. Confirm the fixed figure, then follow the map.

The station complex pulls together two Underground lines, mainline platforms and one of the busiest bus interchanges in north London. Several approaches around it are bus-only or turn-restricted, and the camera enforcement is unforgiving. A driver who breaks down near Station Place discovers quickly that the obvious route in is not available to a tow truck. Operators use Seven Sisters Road or Stroud Green Road instead, then work back on foot to assess before bringing the tow truck in.
The A503 runs east from the station as Seven Sisters Road, red-lined, bus-laned and busy well past midnight. There is very little legal halting between the park gates and the Manor House junction, so a stranded car is instantly an obstruction. The first move is always protective: warning boards and cones deployed, then the vehicle shifted into one of the adjoining streets on the north side before any lifting equipment is set up.
The regenerated blocks around Woodberry Down have parking tucked beneath them behind fob-operated shutters, with clearance bars set low and ramps that turn straight away. No tow truck gets down there. Vehicles have to come up to street level, driven or on skates, before loading can start. Because the estate is addressed by block and core instead of by street, the block name given as the request goes in is what actually gets an operator to the right ramp.
East and West Reservoirs and the line of the New River carve the north-east of the district into pockets, and several streets that look like through routes on a map simply stop at a fence or a channel. A car reachable in theory from one side may need a long loop round Green Lanes in practice. Operators check the crossing points before setting off, since a wrong turn here can add ten minutes to any arrival.
Stroud Green Road climbs away from the station lined with independent shops, and the Victorian terraces feeding off it are parked solid on both sides at all hours. Many houses are split into flats with several cars between them and no off-street space at all. Getting a tow truck alongside means finding the one gap on the street, so operators often bring the vehicle forward on skates to a junction where there is room to drop the flat-bed deck.
Where Green Lanes meets Seven Sisters Road at Manor House, traffic from four directions competes with a tube entrance, bus stops and a constant flow of turning vehicles. Green Lanes northward stays busy late, with restaurants and shops keeping kerbs occupied past midnight. A breakdown on this junction is treated as an urgent clear-and-move job instead of an on-street repair, whatever the fault turns out to be.
The park has multiple vehicle gates that shut at dusk and a car park that empties on a timetable, which occasionally leaves someone locked in with a car that will not start. Access after closing depends on park staff rather than on us, so the earlier that call goes in the better. Event days bring temporary road orders on the surrounding streets, and those change which gate a tow truck can realistically use.
Blackstock Road forms the western spine towards Highbury and it absorbs a share of Arsenal matchday traffic. On those afternoons, event-day parking restrictions apply across the surrounding controlled zones and several turnings are stewarded or closed entirely. Recovery is still possible but the route changes completely, and pedestrians rather than traffic become the limiting factor. Telling us it is a matchday as the request goes in saves the operator guessing at the cordon.
The eastern fringe touches the Harringay Ladder, where identical parallel streets run between Green Lanes and Wightman Road with parking on both sides and barely a car's width in between. Street names differ by one word and satnavs get them wrong. A tow truck that enters the wrong rung has to reverse the whole length of it. Confirming the rung, the house number and which end you are nearest is genuinely useful here.
