Ten hours standing: why station car parks flatten batteries
Harrow has two major stations feeding four services into London: the Metropolitan line and Chiltern Railways at Harrow-on-the-Hill, the Bakerloo line and the Overground at Harrow and Wealdstone. For battery work what matters is dwell time. A car driven to either station at half seven stands untouched until evening, ten to twelve hours, in the open air. Nothing on a modern car is genuinely switched off in that time: the alarm, the immobiliser, the keyless entry receiver listening for a fob, the telematics module and the clock all draw a small current continuously.
