Medium Van
The default for waterfront apartment moves with a limited-size goods lift, and roomy enough for a two-bed L postcode flat in one trip.
Luton Van with Tail Lift

Extra Helper
Useful on Canning's Georgian staircases or any Liverpool flat above the ground floor without a lift.
Man and Van in Liverpool - What You Need to Know
Canning and Falkner Square's Georgian Terraces
The listed Georgian streets around Canning and Falkner Square hold some of Liverpool's finest period housing, tall narrow staircases and no lifts in the terrace. Wardrobes and bed frames routinely need dismantling to clear a landing never built with modern furniture in mind, and booking that in advance beats discovering the problem halfway up the stairs. Parking is on-street and often a short walk from the front door given how tightly these squares are laid out, so a realistic carry allowance matters more here than in a modern flat.
Kensington, Fairfield and Wavertree's Student Streets
Kensington, Fairfield and Wavertree carry one of Liverpool's densest student rental markets, with heavy turnover concentrated into September and June as tenancies start and end together. These are almost always small-van part loads, a bed, a desk and boxes, where the staircase and the number of flights matter far more than the actual volume being moved. Streets here are narrow terraces with on-street parking only, so a driver who knows a specific road's parking pattern gets loaded and gone faster than one working it out on arrival.
Dock Road Waterfront Apartments
The waterfront conversions along the dock road have underground parking with height barriers set around two metres, which rules out a Luton entirely regardless of how much needs to be moved. A medium van doing two runs is frequently the only workable plan for a genuinely full flat in these buildings, and confirming the barrier height at booking avoids the wasted trip of arriving with the wrong size van. Most blocks do have a goods lift, though its size varies enough between buildings that we check rather than assume.
The Queensway and Kingsway Tunnels
Cross-Mersey moves into Wirral or beyond depend on either the Queensway Tunnel from the city centre or the Kingsway Tunnel further north, and both carry a toll and a height limit that need factoring in. A Luton clears the height restriction without issue, but the toll queue itself counts against an hourly rate, so timing the crossing away from peak traffic matters more for the total cost than the mileage does. Operators plan which tunnel to use based on which end of the city the job starts from.
Terraces with Rear Entries
Much of Liverpool's terraced housing retains a rear entry, a narrow service lane running behind the row of houses, which is a genuine advantage on moving day since bulky items can go out the back rather than down a narrow front hall and through a doorway. Many of these entries are now gated or partially blocked by residents' storage, though, so crews confirm whether a specific entry is actually usable before planning to load through it rather than assuming access based on the street layout alone.
Anfield and Goodison Match Days
Anfield and Goodison Park both sit in dense residential streets, and a home fixture at either ground closes roads and fills every available parking space for a wide radius well before kick-off. A booking scheduled near either stadium on a match day needs an early start, well ahead of the crowds arriving, or ideally a different date altogether if the fixture list allows it. Our operators check the fixture calendar before confirming an exact arrival window for addresses close to either ground.
Sefton Park's Wide Avenues
The tree-lined avenues around Sefton Park are generously proportioned, wide roads with deep front gardens, which sounds like easy loading but actually means the walk from a legally parked van to the front door is often longer than it looks on a map. That carry distance, not the loading itself, is usually what drives the total hours on a Sefton Park job, so a driver who has done a job on the street before has a real advantage over one seeing it for the first time.
City Centre Loading Windows
Much of Liverpool's retail core around Church Street and Bold Street has time-limited vehicle access and bus-lane restrictions on the main approaches, which rules out simply pulling up outside a city-centre flat at any hour of the day. Crews establish the legal loading point before arrival rather than circling with a loaded van looking for a spot, and for addresses genuinely inside the restricted zone we plan an early or late slot that falls outside the busiest access hours.
Toxteth and the Granby Four Streets
Toxteth, immediately south of the city centre in L8, is one of Liverpool's most historically significant and diverse neighbourhoods, and the Granby Four Streets, restored through a community-led regeneration project that later won the Turner Prize, are now a mix of renovated Victorian terraces with narrow original staircases similar to those found in Canning. Housing across L8 more broadly ranges from these restored terraces to larger converted houses further towards Sefton Park, so van size varies more street to street here than almost anywhere else in the city.
