Man and Van Oxford
TowManVan covers Oxford from £35 an hour, working the college terms' student turnover and Jericho's narrow streets through North Oxford's villas, out to Cowley, Headington and Abingdon. A single item or a college room is small van work; a full flat or villa needs a medium or Luton instead.
TowManVan's Oxford price is locked in the app from £35 an hour before an operator is dispatched, with a two hour minimum applying throughout. The city centre, Jericho, North Oxford, Cowley, Headington and Abingdon all fall inside a 27 minute target window. Watch the operator's progress live and settle the bill by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay once the crew is finished.

Man and Van in Oxford - What You Need to Know
Term dates, not tenancy dates
Oxford's moving calendar runs on university terms rather than the standard month-end pattern seen elsewhere. Early October and late June each compress an enormous number of small college and student moves into a single fortnight, and those weeks book out further ahead than any other point in the year. A booking made even a few days into one of these windows can find every local operator already committed.
Jericho's narrow terraces
The streets off Walton Street in Jericho are too tight for a Luton to turn into comfortably, narrow Victorian terraces built close together with on-street parking on both sides. Crews commonly load from the main road instead and carry the last stretch on foot, which is why an extra person matters more here than a larger van would, since carrying rather than driving is what slows the job down.
Listed frontages limit the options
A high share of central Oxford sits within a conservation area or carries a listed building designation, and that shapes how a move can actually happen. Sash windows cannot be lifted out casually to get an oversized piece through, so dismantling a wardrobe or a large sofa is more often the practical answer than trying to find another way in through a period frontage.
Cycle lanes block loading
Protected cycle infrastructure on several Oxford streets means a stretch of kerb that looks like an obvious place to load is not legally available to a stationary van, even briefly. The permitted loading point nearest your address is worked out before the crew arrives rather than found by circling the block, since a van blocking a cycle lane can be moved on or ticketed quickly.
Headington hospital traffic
The John Radcliffe Hospital and the Oxford Brookes campus on the eastern side of the city drive a strong traffic pattern on the approach roads into Headington, busiest around shift changeover times. Booking a job in this postcode between those changeovers saves more time than any alternative route choice would, since the roads themselves carry the same volume regardless of which way a crew comes in.
North Oxford's long garden paths
The Victorian and Edwardian villas of Summertown and North Oxford sit behind deep front gardens, sometimes twenty metres or more of path between the gate and the front door. The carry from door to van is what takes the hours on these jobs, not the loading itself, so a helper is usually the better addition here rather than a bigger van that still has to be walked to.
Cowley's easier housing stock
East Oxford around Cowley has interwar and post-war housing with driveways and rear access, a straightforward contrast to the narrow central streets that makes it one of the more comfortable parts of the city for a crew to work in. The old Cowley car plant area nearby still shapes some of the street layout, wider roads than the Victorian terraces closer to the centre.
Park and ride shapes the routing
Oxford deliberately restricts private vehicle access to the centre, and the same restrictions that push commuters onto the park and ride buses also shape where a removals van can legally stand. A plan for the loading point has to be worked out in advance rather than assumed, since arriving without one often means a longer carry from the nearest legal spot rather than the door itself.
Osney Island's flood-prone streets
Osney Island, a small residential island in the Thames just west of the station, has narrow streets that can flood in wet winters, and access for a Luton on the tightest rows is limited even in good weather. A smaller van often manages the island's streets better than a larger one, so confirming the exact street when you book helps us send the right size from the start.
