If your car wouldn't start this morning but it's sitting somewhere safe, off the drive or tucked into a car park, this is a different kind of job to a roadside breakdown. There's no clock ticking on live traffic, nobody's stood on a verge, and no reason to rush the booking. Think of it more like arranging a service appointment than calling for help: work out what's wrong, decide where the car needs to go, and book a driver to bring it there sometime today.
That calmer pace doesn't change what you get. The price is still fixed and shown before a driver is dispatched, drivers are still DBS-checked and carry motor trade or hire-and-reward insurance plus public liability cover, and there's still no membership or joining fee, just the one job you're booking.
If you're actually stuck at the roadside or blocking traffic, this calmer approach isn't the right page: head to emergency car recovery instead, and if you're stopped in a live lane on a motorway, call 999 before doing anything else. And if the car just won't start and you suspect it's simply a flat battery, a jump start might get you moving without needing a recovery at all.

Both options use the same fixed-price app and the same DBS-checked drivers. The only difference is pace: one is built for right now, the other for whenever suits you today.

Beyond the first 3 miles, a per-mile rate applies and increases with distance, shown in the app before you confirm. Same-day bookings don't carry a weekend surcharge, only these three charges can apply on top of the base price, and all three are shown upfront, never added once the driver's already there.

Typical arrival windows by city
Arrival time comes down to how many drivers are working nearby when you confirm, and that tracks roughly with city size. The biggest cities have the most drivers on the road, so the window is tighter; smaller cities still get same-day cover, just with a slightly wider window. These are typical ranges, not guarantees, and they shift with traffic and time of day.
