Covering every junction across M58 - Aintree, Skelmersdale. No surcharge. No membership required.
The M58 runs east from the Aintree interchange at J1 to J6, where it joins the M6 near Orrell. Roughly twelve miles, six junctions, and a road that exists to tie the Liverpool docks and northern Merseyside into the national motorway system. Traffic on it is disproportionately commercial, and most of it is at the beginning or the end of a much longer trip.
J1 sits at the large interchange where this motorway, the M57 and the main roads north and towards the docks all come together. Vehicles joining eastbound here have usually just come off the port roads with whatever fuel was left after loading and queuing. It is a poor place to be stationary and a good place to have already filled up. Slip roads at this end are inside cover.
J3 links the motorway to the Ormskirk area and the surrounding West Lancashire roads. It is the first real bail out going east and the last one going west, and the fuel available from it sits in the towns rather than at the junction. Drivers who leave here on fumes sometimes do not make the forecourt, which puts them on a surface road rather than the motorway.
Two junctions serve Skelmersdale and the industrial estates around it, which produces a steady flow of vans, delivery vehicles and shift traffic onto the motorway. Pool vehicles and shared vans are behind a good proportion of empty tank calls anywhere, and this is exactly that kind of location. State the vehicle while booking so a suitable quantity is brought rather than a token amount.
The eastern end meets the M6 near Orrell, feeding traffic north towards Preston and south towards Warrington and the Midlands. Anyone joining the M6 here is starting a long run, and anyone leaving it is arriving with whatever the M6 left them. Both directions produce calls for the same reason: the fuel decision was deferred at the junction rather than made before it.
This road is one of the main arteries between the docks and the motorway network, so the vehicle mix skews heavily towards articulated lorries and rigids. Those vehicles run big tanks and use AdBlue steadily, and a derated truck on a two lane motorway causes disruption out of all proportion to the fault. Commercial quantities are carried when the booking makes the requirement clear.
Between the Ormskirk junction and Skelmersdale the road runs through West Lancashire farmland, unlit and open, with wide verges and hardly anything beside the running lanes. It is the quietest stretch and the least pleasant to break down on after dark. Hazard lights should go on the moment you stop and stay on for the whole wait, whatever the state of the battery.
This route carries no motorway service area at all. Every option involves leaving at a junction, and the nearest forecourts are in Ormskirk, Skelmersdale or on the roads near either end. Twelve miles is short enough that drivers assume they will manage, and short enough that being wrong is genuinely inconvenient rather than dangerous. Deal with a low gauge before joining.
Port traffic and warehouse shifts keep this motorway working through the night, and cover matches that. Jobs are accepted at any hour, with no addition for darkness, weekends or bank holidays, and the app puts the price in front of you first. Half an hour or less is the arrival aim. Cones and compliant lighting are placed before the operator walks up to the vehicle.
Same fixed price across every area. No postcode surcharge.
