Openshaw - Ashton Old Road Terraces, Etihad Campus & Velodrome, Fort Ardwick Retail Park, Clayton Vale

Man and Van Openshaw

TowManVan handles Openshaw's full range in one service: Ashton Old Road terraces where parking takes planning, Higher Openshaw semis that load in a single run, and the steady stream of bulky-goods pickups out of Fort Ardwick, all at a fixed price with a DBS-checked driver behind the wheel.

Covering the whole of Openshaw M11, from Ashton Old Road and Higher Openshaw out to where Clayton, Beswick and Gorton meet the suburb's edges, TowManVan is built around three jobs this place produces constantly: a terrace flat move where the driver has to think about parking first, a postwar semi that a single Luton run clears without fuss, and a same-day bulky-item run out of Fort Ardwick or the Openshaw retail park. Every quote starts at £35/hr and locks in the app the moment you confirm.

Terrace access on Ashton Old Road sorted before the driver sets off, Higher Openshaw semis cleared in a single Luton run, Etihad Campus fixtures worked around rather than into. Target arrival 20 minutes.

Man and Van in Openshaw - What You Need to Know

01

Ashton Old Road's Terraced Rows

Follow Ashton Old Road out of the city centre through Beswick and Clayton and you're in Openshaw proper before the road bends on toward Droylsden and Ashton-under-Lyne. The terraces stacked along the side streets here went up quickly in the Victorian era to house the workforce from Openshaw's old railway and engineering plants, and that same quick, dense build-out is exactly why parking on these roads still runs tight most of the day. TowManVan defaults to a small or medium van for anything booked off this stretch, and the driver's first job on arrival is usually finding a side street with a genuine gap rather than expecting to stop right outside.

02

Higher Openshaw's Postwar Estates

Higher Openshaw looks and loads completely differently. It replaced some of the clearance-era terraces that used to stand closer to the centre, and the roads built for it favour cars from the start, generous frontages, driveways on plenty of streets, and often a long stretch of kerb with nothing parked on it. A three-bed semi up here typically goes out in one Luton run with a second helper handling the loft and shed, none of the back-and-forth carrying that a tighter Ashton Old Road terrace sometimes needs.

03

Fort Ardwick and Openshaw Retail Parks

Both retail parks sit close enough to count as Openshaw's own bulky-shopping district, flat-pack furniture, mattresses, appliances, the kind of purchase that will not fit in a car boot. TowManVan drivers pick up straight from the store's loading bay on the day of purchase, so there is no separate collection point to arrange, and a flat-pack wardrobe or bed frame gets exactly the same handling in transit as anything already unpacked and in daily use at home.

04

The Etihad Campus and the National Cycling Centre

The Etihad Campus, Manchester City's stadium ground and the National Cycling Centre velodrome together, sits just to the northwest, close enough that a first-team fixture or a major track meet changes the traffic picture on Openshaw's own edge. Streets nearest the campus pick up permit restrictions and slower-moving traffic for a stretch either side of the event rather than all day, and a booking anywhere close gets checked against the fixture list first so the driver's route is planned around whatever is actually happening rather than found out about on arrival.

05

A Suburb Rebuilt Over Its Industrial Past

Much of the ground under Openshaw's street grid used to sit beneath heavy engineering works, including plant near the former Gorton Tank railway complex just south of here, and clearance of that industrial land over the decades has left the suburb a genuine patchwork. A single street can run from a Victorian terrace with its old outside toilet still standing in the yard to a newer infill house built where a works building once stood, and the two need completely different van handling, close-in manoeuvring for one, straightforward frontage access for the other.

06

Clayton and Clayton Vale

Cross west along Ashton Old Road and you're in Clayton before you've really noticed the boundary, the terraced streets barely change character and neither does the parking situation, so TowManVan books a Clayton job at exactly the Openshaw rate with nothing added for the short hop. Clayton Vale, the strip of reclaimed parkland running down to the River Medlock between the two, is a genuine bit of green relief on this stretch, though our crews do check how the lower paths are holding up after a wet spell given how close that ground sits to the river.

07

Hyde Road and the Route Out to Gorton, Denton and Hyde

Hyde Road is the other old main road through this side of the city, running past Belle Vue and Gorton before it continues to Denton and Hyde, and it means Openshaw never has to route a job back through the centre just to head that way. It's the road most upsizing families actually leave Openshaw on, and just as often it brings the opposite journey our way, buyers coming in from further down the Hyde Road corridor looking for something closer to town.

08

Gorton, Debdale Park and the East Manchester Upsizing Belt

When an Openshaw family needs another bedroom, Gorton and the streets around Debdale Park are usually the first place they look, a park with its own boating lake sitting next to the Audenshaw reservoirs on the city's eastern rim. It's a short hop rather than a relocation, so a Luton van with a second helper covers most of these jobs comfortably, and because the actual distance travelled is small, what you pay comes down almost entirely to how long the loading takes rather than the drive itself.

09

The Velopark, Edge Lane and Ashton Metrolink Corridor

The Ashton Metrolink line skirts Openshaw's northern boundary, with a Velopark stop that serves the National Cycling Centre directly and an Edge Lane stop a bit further toward Droylsden, and both attract commuters happy to park up and tram in rather than drive all the way into town. That all-day parking eats into the stopping points a loading van would otherwise use nearby, so where the customer's schedule allows it, we time these bookings outside the morning rush and the early-evening return rather than fighting for space in the middle of it.
